Attaching

Any number of objects can be attached to a bone. When an object is attached to a bone, it moves as the bone moves. In other words, the bone controls the attached objects.

You attach objects with using the lists in the Items panel. To attach an object to a bone, drag the object from the left-side Scene List and drop it onto a bone in the right-side Skeleton List.

You can attach a single object to multiple bones by selecting the bones and dropping the object onto them. When you attach an object this way, the attached object is automatically marked for skinning.

Note: attached objects are automatically moved into the skeleton group.

Any object in trueSpace can be attached to a bone, including other skeletons.

A skeleton attached to another skeleton is called a subskeleton. Subskeletons are powerful tools that allow localized posing and animations.

Example: a character's left hand is attached to a bone. A skeleton is created and attached to the bone which controls the hand, making it a subskeleton. The fingers in the character's hand are then attached to the sub-skeleton. Now animations and poses can be created for the fingers that are independent of the position of the hand.

To create a subskeleton, first create a regular skeleton. Then drag-n-drop the new skeleton onto a bone in the master skeleton (that is, attach it like any other object).
